Sock Snowman Craft

November 18, 2012
By

For a super simple instant snowman, you can’t beat this idea given to me by a teacher friend. It amused all my children in the run up to a rather trying Christmas and the resulting snowmen were rather cute. (Note, do not store them in the garage afterwards, instant mouse fest).

These are really too simple to even call sewing crafts ;) Fill a tennis sock to the heel with rice and then tie their neck with white yarn. Ideally have a cute hand knitted scarf ready to put around him and he’ll look more like our pom pom snowmen and then you can call it a knitting craft ;)

Next fill the head with rice and tie it off with more yarn.

Fold the ribbed end of the sock back on itself to make the hat and paint it with posted paint. I did try pre-painting this bit but it didn’t work too well.

We drew buttons and eyes on but you could jazz it up a bit more and make it more crafty by sewing buttons on.

This craft originally featured on our family blog.
